“Convergence laboratory” for budding journalists

January 15, 2009

622-schieffer_school_3_01-15-2009_arlingtons_itr4miiembeddedprod_affiliate58Time was when “J” students chose a career path … print or electronic … never the twain shall meet. Print journalists, by and large, had huge disdain for TV reporters. And most TV reporters thought print journalists asked arcane questions and took too long  during interviews.

My … how times have changed and here’s just one more example … a “convergence laboratory” at CBS News Bob Schieffer’s alma mater. (The journalism school is the Schieffer School of Journalism.) Students will learn to write for print, TV and the web (maybe even The Daily Show?)  That kind of describes the job of NASA Langley news media reps … we write/produce for many media platforms … maybe not Comedy Central, though.              Kathy B.
