More nails in the coffin

images-1The headlines just keep coming about the state of the traditional media … print and electronic. Here’s the latest … reduced home delivery at the sixth largest paper in the  country: Detroit Free Press and News redirect staff, resources to digital delivery of news

That follows on recent news that the Tribune company (owners of the Daily Press, Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune, among others) is in bankruptcy. The New York Times is taking out a mortgage on its NYC headquarters to ease a potential cash flow issue.

Newspapers and TV stations across the country are laying off people left and right. For those of us with lots of friends and acquaintances in the media … this is a sad time.
